2:07 AM Saturday

Today was show day, the first one I’ve been in for many weeks; it was kinda weird since a lot of things have changed around. I spent the morning being signed out to prepare a presentation on globalization for the cast next week on Friday. I’ve done up a keynote presentation that we can start off with. Lunch and supper were served on the main floor of the theatre in what some might call a pub. Most of the afternoon was spent in rehearsal as we had the new German song to do the blocking for as well as the break dance group that was at one of our CI projects. I didn’t attend green room because, I’m sure it was going to be a sad, emotional affair and I really didn’t need any more of that today. The show was almost completely sold out and they loved the performance. Afterward I was scheduled to do interviews but there were only 4 to be conducted so I ended up on strike, taking down the stage. I’ve also been appointed the person to set up and take down the staff workroom on each show day. We finished after midnight, and since there were no more trams running, we took a taxi back to our host families house. Tomorrow is our free day, but we’re “scheduled” to have breakfast at 10am, so I’ve got to be ready for that. A lot of people are planning to go to the clubs Saturday night, but I don’t think I’m up for something like that. I think its all good™

Today was a long day, not as long as tomorrow will be, but none the less... Greg and I enjoyed the usual breakfast today and were dropped off at the tram station by our host father. Along the way we ran into Renee and Aria; who is leaving us to go back to Canada to continue her physiotherapy. Upon arriving at the youth center we found a sealed envelope on a chair on stage. Basically, the staff weren’t going to show up today; they were going to let the interns deal with running the day. I’ve got to say, it went very well. I headed to my CI site, fiddle in hand. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to finish the music to our lyrics as people were in playing the massive pipe organ all day in preparation for a concert tomorrow night. I wish I could go to that instead of doing our show. Anyway, at around 2 in the afternoon we headed to a nearby park where we joined another CI project where some of our students were learning to break dance from a local group. Since we had no music, I played a few Newfoundland fiddle tunes for them; they all applauded loudly. We read our lyrics and then they did their break dance routine. We had supper back at the youth center with all of the CI people. The meal itself was cooked by the people at one of the CI sites. Afterwards all of the CI sites did a presentation and then we did a BTS (short version of our big show) then Greg and I headed home. Its all Good™

Getting up for my shower at 7am I knew it was going to be a long day. Using the new Nivea for men shampoo and body wash in one that I had bought on sale at the train station last night, I took my shower, then headed up for breakfast. We had once again, cheese, meats, jams, butters, and of course Nutlella on toast. Greg and I took tram #1 across town to our drop off point at the youth center. After morning meeting, I left with my CI group to the church we had visited yesterday. Our task is to collaborate and come up with some ideas to spur on the project “respect is it” to encourage intercultural interaction and awareness in the East Leipzig district. We broke into two groups, one conducting interviews on the topic with the general public on the streets, the other which I was in were to write a song for the inauguration of this endeavor. It came together quite well. For lunch we had a rice stir fry kinda dealio, then we took a tour of the church, the bell tower, and the pipe organ. At 4:30 we headed back to the youth center for wrap up. Tomorrow we are putting on a mini BTS show, my first show in 4 weeks. It should be all good. On the way back to our host family, we stopped for some coffee downtown before jumping back on the tram for home. Back at the house, we had forgotten our key so we phoned to get in. Supper was pizza and we ate with the family. I think we’re really getting along with the kids, though they are an unruly bunch. Before they went to bed, I read them a bedtime story; the Lion King (in English). I myself am pretty tired so I’m listening to the new album from Infected Mushroom to stay awake for now. Miranda is traveling home form university tonight with her mom so I won’t get to talk to her but I’ve been sending txt messages and hoping they’re getting through. I’d also like to give a shout out to my friends in China! Its all Good™
