Today was yet another pretty awesome day. This morning out home team announced the news at morning meeting. This was followed by a seminar title “Global Grab Bag” which was designed by Oxfam. http://www.oxfam.org.uk/ Part of the activity was to check the tags of all the clothing we were wearing. Most of us weren’t even wearing anything made in their own countries; well, except for the Chinese students. The second part of the activity had us break into 9 groups each of which was given an object and were to talk about it in a global sense. We were given a water bottle full of water. Unfortunately we spent more time discussion the bottle than the more important water within. After each group had presented their discussion results we physically tied each of the object to each other to visually represent how one affects the other i.e. Our water was tied to rice (and its production and preparation); with rice being an important staple food worldwide. The third part of the activity had us all our wrists tied together and that if someone pulls on the line it affects everyone.
The bulk of the rest of the day was spent doing the usual song and dance. Today I also received (finally) the fiddle music that I am slated to play during the introduction to the culture jam session of the show. I’ve got one day to learn it but Its all good. Also today we had another meeting for the weblog team. I’ve been formally appointed the assistant web master as well as head of photography. Somehow between now and Monday I’ve got to churn out pages for all the cast using their mug shots.
After we finished rehearsal today a group of about 20 or so of us headed downtown taking a combination of bus and train. The movie that we were supposed to be seeing was not playing so we went to the Paramount Café (http://www.paramountcafe.com/)for supper and then went to see “Epic Movie” (http://www.epicmoviethemovie.com/). I had a pretty good burger and fries for supper and sat with Linn, Jorne, and Peter. It was all Good™. The movie was really dumb but it was worth it for the parody of “Harold and Kumar go to White Castle” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Peppe, Whitney and I got picked up afterward by Michelle at the Hard Rock Café Denver. It was pretty cool inside. The whole of the downtown area is pretty neat. Tomorrow I think we are heading back up to Boulder to Visit the Kazakhstan Teahouse, torn down, shipped across the world, and rebuild piece by piece. It should be good. I’m also looking forward to sleeping in a bit for once. Monday we start at a new campus where we will be doing dress rehearsals for the rest of the week. I can hardly believe its our last week in Denver already! Farmington here we come!
