The flight over to Brussels from Atlanta was rough to say the least. It lasted for 8 hours and 21 minutes. I tried to sleep but with all the time changes I’ve seen in the past week that didn’t happen save for the last hour. We were met at the airport by Olga, a young slender Russian woman holding a big sign saying “UWP Brennan and Kaylee” We stopped for some coffee (much needed) and some tasty pastries. There were were briefed on our travel arrangements to Utretch. We are to take several trains to get there. We are currently on our second train heading to Antwerp. We are both so tired. I’ve got to say though, Europe reminds me more of home than did the US, its all in the atmosphere. We should meet our contact tonight in Utretch if all goes as planned. Its all Good™ Belgium is beautiful, the temperature is around 15°C so I am quite comfortable in my shorts, t-shirt, and jacket.

Kaylee and I did eventually make it to Utrecht; it took 5 trains but we did it. We traveled through such places as Gouda, Rotterdam and Antwerp. The Scenery was awesome. We weren’t too long finding our contact person at the Utrecht central station. Its great that English is so common here, but even if it wasn’t, I’m sure I could get by with the German and French that I know. I met my host mom for the next little while at the train station. We drove out to their home on the outskirts of the city in a place called Houton. They have a very nice home which from what I’ve been told is actually very large by Netherlands standards. I’m staying on the third floor apartment from which I can see for a good 25 miles around. The land is very flat. They have a son and daughter, both now moved away. For supper we had chicken breast, home fry style potatoes, and green beans. This was followed by some wine and various delicious cheese and ultimately a cup of hot cappuccino and some Danish Butter Cookies. Tomorrow the weather is also supposed to be nice and we are heading to Amsterdam to do some admissions work for the day. It should be awesome. I’m doing my laundry now and hoping soon to try and sleep, I’m 6 hours ahead of where I was yesterday so I’m still jet-lagged a bit but Its All Good™.
