2:07 AM Saturday

Today was kind of a laid back day. I slept late and was awakened by the kids telling us to come down for lunch. We were served “cheesy eggs” aka omelets for brunch with the usual fresh breads and thee various toppings including cheeses, meats, jams, flavored margarine spreads, and of course, Nutella. There are three staple drinks we’ve had here every day. Usually hot coco for breakfast with orange juice, and apple juice with carbonated water for the rest of the meals. Its all good. In the afternoon I wrote some postcards and then around 2:30 set off to send them, the sun was shining but it was only about 7°C. I took the tram to the central station and from there I sent my postcards. There were lots and lots of police in heavy uniforms; probably because there was a soccer game on I was told. I decided to see a bit of the city so I just jumped on random trams and saw where they went to. In the evening a lot of the cast was going out to a student club in the city; I was invited but I decided not to go. I didn’t want to go drinking or pay the cover charge just to get in. It was late and curfew for us is at midnight so I wouldn’t have been there long anyhow. It was the last night in the cast for Aria, one of the Canadian girls. She’s going home because of health reasons to do with her back. Instead I spent the evening at home doing some laundry and talking to Miranda back home about this summer. Greg arrived back home but couldn’t get in because I had the key. I thought the kitchen door was going to be open for him but it wasn’t. He threw some stuff at the window but I just thought it was the neighbours because they were having a party with loud music and fireworks (not little ones either). He ended up ringing the doorbell and waking up my host parents. Probably would have been better to call my cell phone. Ah well, it was all good.
