Today was pretty good for our second travel day. Saying goodbye to the Simkins, we drove from Farmington down to Tucson leaving around 7:45 am and arriving shortly after 5 pm. My bus buddy for the day was Jess from Wisconsin. We talked about everything from movies, to music, to geography and religion. There were still many hours to fill so we watched Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail, and Jackass II. We made very few stops along the route to save time. We did however almost loose Patrick from Chicago as he was a minute late back to the bus. He did have to chase us down across the parking lot; it was quite funny. They are very serious about leaving you behind if you are late.
Its interesting how the climate can vary here. Just yesterday we were up in the mountains with a few feet of snow, today we saw cacti and palm trees.
When we arrived in Tucson, we were briefed and each issued a bag containing promotional material and a clothing item provided by out host family. We had a fashion show style event where we got to meet out host families. My original host family had cancelled at the last minute so for a little while I was an orphan. While I waited for them to find me a new family I helped unload people's luggage from the trucks which arrived later because they have a maximum highway speed of 65 mph.
My new host dad did finally arrive to pick me up. I donÕt have a room mate this week which makes things more interesting. I am staying with Rogelio and Monica Garcia, a middle age couple from Mexico with no kids. They are really nice and we had tortillas with different fillings for supper. One in particular was called ÒMolŽÓ, a filling made with chicken, chocolate, and spices.
There May not be a hot tub here, but I do get a room to my self so perhaps IÕll be able to blog a bit more. It does seem that weÕve got a pretty packed schedule though. We have our show at the casino del sol on Saturday and it seats over 5000 so itÕll be the biggest yet. It's all Good.
