Today was an awesome day no doubt. Jorge and I slept in until probably around 10:30- 11 or so. We had cereal for breakfast; I the Cinnamon Swirls and he the classic Rice Crispies. We left for Durango shortly after noon. Along the way we stopped at some Aztec ruins and walked around for a bit. The architectural achievements of the time are amazing considering what they had to work with. They built giant round underground centers called Kivas, there they felt most connected to the spirit world below the earth. We also saw some very old and very large Yucca plants; the New Mexico state flower. We ran into Peppe, Andrew, Kenzo, and Peter there. We met up with our host brother Ryan there and he took us the rest of the way to Durango. On the way we stopped at an A&W drive in restaurant and had some ÒReal AmericanÓ Rootbeer, funny thing; it tastes just like the Canadian Stuff. Durango is very much a rich town with very nice houses that go for as little as a quarter of a million dollars. We also went up to the Durango Mountain Resort where we had pizza for lunch at the ski lodge. It was snowing quite heavily as opposed to the rain in Durango. On our way back we stopped at the Durango train station, it was closed but I still got to see the Narrow Gauge trains and everything. We also stopped for a few minutes at Pinkerton hot springs. While downtown Durango we saw Charlotte, Armando, and Yamil. It was also quite surprising to see many deer right downtown. Another interesting phenomenon that IÕve come to realize is very big is Road Rage. Driving can truly bring out the worst in someone. IÕve heard lots of swearing, flashing of headlights, and even people giving the middle finger. Its just Crazy.Back in Farmington we all met up again for supper at Fiesta Mexicana for some Mexican food. I had a beef burrito and it was quite filling. We got to put on some Sombreros and get our Picture taken too. The power went out while we were at the restaurant, it was creepy to see almost nothing at all; and hear nothing too. You could actually hear the power just cut out. On our way back to the house; we observed a strange tradition. A n umber of Mexicans drive their cars around in a big loop in a parkinglot for fun on Sunday nights. They do this for hours; it seems really silly to me but I guess its just that boring around here. I almost bought myself a palm Pilot today as well. I always forget things that are really good to write in my journal; like the other day when we went to Ship Rock High School I met a student there named Callista; the same name and spelling as one of my sisters. TheyÕre actually pretty cheap down here and there is 8% less tax too. I canÕt get on the neighbours WiFi anymore; maybe they caught onto me. I have to upload everything over their dial up which is slower that old people drinking frozen molasses through a straw. Ah well, on to Tuscon Tomorrow! Pray for faster internet!
