Its interesting how sometimes things can turn out completely different than you thought they would. At the beginning of the week I was slightly apprehensive about how it was going to be to stay with the most elderly host family yet. Today I am convinced that we had a much better time and experience than most others. Sleeping in till about 11 we awoke to a note taped to the bathroom mirror saying that they would be back from church at 11:30 AM to take us out for lunch. Angelo and I did some laundry and a little packing before they arrived back. We went to downtown Grand Prairie for lunch to an “All American” diner style restaurant. I had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, Okra and tomatoes, and cole slaw. It was pretty good I must say. Apparently it is the hangout spot for seniors after church in the afternoon. There were three large churches in the vicinity that all got out around the same time. After lunch we had a quick tour around the town; we stopped by the racetrack (for horses), the football stadium (the Gopher Bowl), and the tourist info center. It was on the way back to their house that I learned what it was that they had planned for the afternoon. I knew that Casey had been in WWII and I also knew that he had worked in the airspace industry for many years. What I didn’t know was that he was still a licensed pilot and had his own plane, a 1966 Cessna-182 at the Grand Prairie municipal airstrip. Needless to say, Angelo and I got to see the whole city. We flew to about 1500 feet and out and around the city. I don’t think we could have had a day of better weather. Back at the house we finished off the day with home made chili for supper and some fiddle music. It was All Good™

Great pics, Brennan!
The aerial shots remind me of what it looks like flying out of Greenwood and around the Valley!
Those wax museum statues really look lifelike! It's uncanny...that one that looks like you is you right to a "t"!
Keep having fun!
