Friday was another early day as we were at a new facility for the day; the newly constructed Jacobs University. Since I had no idea how to get there, I had my host mom drop me off at the station just before 7am. I just sat at the front of the station until some UWP people came along an I went with them. We arrived on time, walking quite some distance to the campus from the station. In the morning we did some workshops facilitated by some students of the university that had to do with scarcity of resources. We were each to draw our dream home, then construct a dream home for our small group only cutting out things already drawn from our houses; finally the entire group was to construct a house from the groups houses. Needless to say, not everyone got something they wanted. Lunch was served at their student cafeteria. Even though it was an international school, the divides between different nationalities could be witnessed across the tables. In the afternoon, we conducted a workshop on the world where we were asked to ask ourself questions such as “Why are we here?” Of course, the answers were as varied as we all are. This was followed by the Globalization presentation that was put on by Patrick, Mary, and Myself. I think it went quite well all in all. We at least got some discussions going on. We finished of the day with some gym time. We played a swedish version of dodge-ball Then headed for home. On the way back I stopped at an Irish pub just outside the train station and had a pint of beer with a bunch of the other cast members before heading home. Interestingly enough, the bad was owned by a Canadian. For supper we had home made bruschetta and I played my fiddle for them. That evening, the grandparents arrived home from their trip to turkey. They both had noticeable tans and spoke no english but we still communicated using gestures and the dictionary.
