This morning I was up early, although not early enough for a shower, I’m going on three days without one now but I’m doing surprisingly well I think. (smell wise) Its been even longer since I shaved cause I’m all out of razors; that or I just can’t find them in my suitcase. Anyhow, I was dropped of at the central station this morning just before 7am. The sun was just up and there was an erie morning haze about things because it was actually pretty warm. I walked through the whole station, most of the shops are downstairs so that is where I stopped for some breakfast, a cheese croissant and a cup of cappuccino. While I was in line, I ran into some UWP people. We all met in front of the arrivals, departures area and left as a group for the school. We took two busses, a tram, and a train to get there and it took over 45 minutes. We arrived to a room full of students and we gave a presentation of who we are. I got some pretty wild applause when I introduced myself, anyhow, we had a paper rocks scissors tournament with them and made (and we’re pretty sure of it) the worlds largest human chair. Afterwards, we broke up to the different classrooms, Myself and Gaby (the technical manager for the trip, and yes he’s a guy from the Netherlands) went to a class of grade 9s. They were pretty knowledgeable and we had some fun activities and some great discussions on the topics of leadership, respect, and human rights. It was pretty cool. At 1:45 we had lunch at a restaurant down the street, it was pretty lavish as they had laid out a big buffet for us. Coming back on the train later many other people continued the ongoing debate on the use of the term “American”; whether it is supposed to refer to the “USA” people or the people from “The Americas”. This has brought up some interesting points, one being that in central america, they are taught that the continents of North and South America are to be considered as one continent. On the way back, I was discussing the topic with Matt, also from Canada. We made clear the distinction that we were not americans and the guy walking in front of us turned right around and told us he was an american and living in Germany and some other stuff too. It wasn’t pleasant but I was too tired to care so it was all good. Tonight we’re running late because we are having the “Expression Session”, a bit like a talent show for the cast. I’m not doing anything in the show as far as I know. I’m probably going to fall asleep. I certainly could now anyhow. Tomorrow is another early day like today and I know I’m going to need more sleep; maybe a shower too. But then again, maybe not. Well, I’m going downstairs for supper, im’ not hungry but I’m sure thirsty. I don’t know how I’m going to do in Thailand where its always hot and very humid. Ah well, I’ll be home soon enough back to some “Normal” temperatures.
Supper was traditional German Sauerkraut and sausages served with boiled potatoes.
