Today was another early day; like every day this week because I’m staying with Scott; the dance captain. Last week was even different; I had to be everywhere even earlier and stay later than the staff because I was staying with one of the advanced team members. This week I’m staying with staff so that means that I have to be there earlier than most all the students in the morning, but this week I don’t have a room to myself. Ah well, today is officially one month till the conclusion of this venture. Anyhow, today was regional learning day, so what did we do? We went to a Viking Museum where they had replica viking ships similar to the ones that were sailed by Leif Ericsson to Vinland aka current day Newfoundland. To a place called L’anse aux Meadows which is located a 15 minutes drive from Miranda’s place on the Northern Peninsula. Guess what we had for lunch? If you guessed sandwiches, you guessed correctly. I’m thinking Thailand if nothing else should be a dramatic change from sandwiches. In the afternoon, we had guest speaker Tommy Spalding, CEO of UWP. I really enjoyed what he said. There were a lot of things that I was questioning about this program that explained; how some of the CI projects we do sometime really aren’t all that relative, how this program really isn’t about what we do as far as Uwp activities, Up With People begins when we leave Thailand because the ultimate goal is for us to have grown into global leaders. He was very blunt about this and I agreed. Later, we were supposed to have a guest speaker from the Roskilde Music festival, but he didn’t show up so we had Home Team Time, followed by some preparation for Thailand. For supper, it was just my room mate, my host dad, and myself, so we had chicken and curried rice along with some Danish beer. Later on we had some 2002 port wine and I really had to start packing in earnest on account of the fact that We’re allowed only 2 bags, one checked and one carry on for the flight to Thailand on monday. The weight limits are 50lbs and 20 lbs. On top of that, some other people (not to name any names Janet!) have asked me to pack stuff in into my bags for them. An I really can’t say thats going to work. I’ve already decided to sacrifice, one of the mugs I got, a pair of jeans, and a pair of shoes; I know that still won’t be enough though. What is even worse is that I’m technically allowed to take 2 checked bags back to L.A. From Thailand, but one of them isn’t allowed to be mine cause I’m going to have to take some piece of UWP crap. So basically, I have no room to buy any souvenirs or anything while I’m there. That sucks, but I shouldn’t care cause, I’m going to be home in a month today.
