Its been an interesting day so far... I woke up just after six this morning with almost nothing packed and about 20 minutes to figure out how to get it all together. I somehow managed to accomplish this task and get my bags downstairs. No time for coffee we jumped in the truck and headed to the drop off point. Today I signed up to ride in the van instead of the bus because I figured I’d get a better chance to sleep. It was a pretty fun bunch in the van, there was (front to back) Peppe (Sweden), Christin, Andrew, Sasha, Meg, and myself. Since I had no “van seniority” I ended sitting in the back on the passenger side. We drove for quite some time; crossing over into Mississippi. We drove passed a place called “Hattiesburg” which I thought was awesome (Miranda’s moms name is Hattie). We needed to get gas so stopped in a place called “Laural”, got some gas, and continued on our way.. I was still pretty tired (and the place didn’t carry phone cards either) so I decoded to try and take another nap. Here’s where my day got interesting. I was jarred awake by a loud bang followed by the sound of metal on metal. I was covered with broken glass from the back and side windows that were blow out in the impact. Sitting up and turning around I slowly gained realization of what had happened. We had been struck from behind by a semi truck. Luckily no one was dead. The van damaged to the point that we couldn’t open the side door on my side. Climbing out I noticed that my right arm was all cut up from the glass but Christen helped me get all cleaned up. It was clear that the back end of the van was totaled. Our equipment was strewn over the road and the truck partially in the ditch and not in very good shape either. The accident was apparently not our fault nor the fault of the drive. From what I head afterwards, there was a car (Not a Cat as previously posted) that was stopped in the middle of the road and we braked and swerved to get around it and that’s when the collision occurred. The police were called and a formal report made. Our equipment trucks were 15 minutes behind us and our cast manager was soon on the scene. I had a once over examination from Chris where it was deemed that although I had nothing broken I most likely had a concussion and whiplash. I still can’t seem to concentrate on anything. The bus was called and they turned around to come and pick us up. We unloaded what we could form the derelict van, loaded it into the truck, then got onto the bus. Because we are now behind schedule we were only allowed to make one stop between now and Nashville. Would you believe it that the only place we stopped at my debit card wouldn’t work. I thought I’d just get some sleep but everyone wanted to watch RENT so here I am journalling. Rent May be a great musical but I don’t like it anymore. We had to write reports on the accident and we I am going to the hospital when we get to Nashville to get checked out. I feel close to death but Its all Good™, I know I’ll be fine.
