Today was a long day to say the least; literally, we put in over 19 hours straight. I woke up around 5 AM (which was actually closer to 4 AM with the daylight savings time change) I had meant to get up earlier but as usual that didn’t happen. Andrew’s alarm didn’t go off so I had to wake him up. We didn’t have much time but we still made it to the drop off before the bus left. I think pretty much everyone slept as the 20 or so of us headed to the theatre to set up. We rolled off the bus, dropped off our stuff in the audience and set to work. The loading dock at the back of the stage was unfortunately about 2 feet to high for our trucks so we had to get creative. At the end of the day my back was sure sore though. Th rest of the cast arrived around 8:30. It felt like it should have been late afternoon. We had about an hour of free time after we finished the setup while other people were in workshops; I walked around the campus and tried at several places to find a phone card for my cell phone but no one carried them (even if they were advertised) We had salad and pasta as well as jambalaya for lunch out on the front steps. Patrick had us all sing a tribute to the south side Irish from Chicago as this was about the time they were having their parade for St. Patrick’s day. Our afternoon rehearsal was really short. I decided not to do green room for the 3rd or 4th week in a row but instead took tickets and handed out the programs. Too bad the show went so well because the attendance was terribly low. The theater’s capacity was 1800 people and I’m sure we had less than 400. It was however filmed by our sponsor, Cox Communication for later rebroadcast. We didn’t finish with strike until well into the evening. Working truck crew as usual, I only managed to smack my head on the cross-members about 4 times. When Andrew and I got back to our host family’s house we got into the hot tub for a few minutes. It was a good thing. I could barely walk before I got in; afterward I felt like I could actually get to sleep.Of course I didn’t sleep; I still had everything left to pack. I never got it all packed; I woke up the next morning face down on the bed wit the suitcase still open on the floor with clothes everywhere.
